As of July 1st, 2025, newly purchased Texas vehicles will receive red temporary plates that remain valid until permanent registration arrives. Uber's system frequently automatically rejects these temporary plates when drivers submit them for registration. To get these plates approved, follow these steps:

Hi there, I'm in a newly purchased a vehicle in Texas and was issued a temporary metal license plate by the tax office (valid as registration until the blue sticker arrives). I'd like to get my account approved to drive with this plate, please!

I've uploaded a clear photo of the Texas temporary plate and my active insurance card with my name on it.

I can also provide the 30-day registration copy from the tax office (showing the VIN and expiration date) to verify my temporary plate's authenticity. Please let me know if you need anything else to approve my vehicle so I can start driving. Thank you!

If they need additional documents, send the 30 day registration copy that is in the glove box to the support agent
