Understanding the Risks of Peer-to-Peer Hosting
- Like any car sharing platform, hosting vehicles comes with inherent business risks.
- Occasionally, issues arise—such as non-payment, vehicle recovery needs, extended cleaning, or other costs related to problem guests.
- These situations are few and far between, but they are a normal part of operating in the peer-to-peer car sharing space.
Responsibility for Costs
- Damage, excessive mess, or cleaning beyond normal wear is the driver's responsibility.
- Recovery and repossession costs tied to guest non-payment are pursued from the driver.
- Time and effort spent addressing these issues are part of the operational reality of hosting.
- ZEVO does not reimburse hosts for recovery, repossession, cleaning, or damage expenses unless explicitly stated in writing.
ZEVO's Role in Collections
- ZEVO coordinates enforcement, recovery, and collections when a guest defaults.
- We document incidents and bill charges to the driver when supported by evidence through our incidentals system.
- We do our best to collect on behalf of hosts, but if collection efforts are unsuccessful, ZEVO does not absorb or reimburse those costs.
- ZEVO facilitates claims and policy enforcement but is not the financial backstop for guest-caused losses.
Guest Screening
- All guests complete Persona ID verification and Checkr background checks.
- These checks significantly reduce risk but cannot guarantee payment or prevent every incident.
