Turn on Bluetooth. In phone Settings, search for Tesla or open Apps > Tesla > Permissions. Allow Location set to Always; on Android, also allow Nearby devices if shown. Return to the Tesla app after changing the settings.
Close the Tesla app completely, restart the phone, reopen Tesla, and retry Set Up Phone Key while standing near the vehicle.
Move other phones, watches, or devices already paired to the Tesla away from the vehicle, or turn off Bluetooth on them temporarily, then retry. Nearby paired devices can interfere with which key connects.
If you denied permissions during the first setup and cannot restore them in Settings, reinstall the Tesla app and accept Bluetooth, Location, and Nearby devices prompts. Do not uninstall or sign out when this phone is your only working key or you are locked out; contact ZEVO first.
If Controls are visible in the Tesla app and the vehicle has cellular service, use Lock/Unlock or Start as a temporary bridge; Start authorizes driving for about two minutes. Contact ZEVO if access still fails. Never leave a paired phone inside the vehicle: it may continue acting as a key, and phone-left-behind alerts are not a security guarantee.
