Out-of-City Travel Policy
At ZEVO, we understand that your travel needs may extend beyond the metropolitan area. While we generally allow travel outside the metro area where you picked up your rental vehicle, we require notification and approval for several important reasons:
- Prior Approval Required: You must obtain approval before leaving the metropolitan area or traveling across state lines.
- Zero Balance Required: Your account must have no outstanding balance before out-of-city or out-of-state travel can be approved. This includes any overdue base fare, tolls, supercharger fees, or incidentals. Clear your balance before requesting approval.
- Insurance Coverage: This policy exists due to insurance liability requirements and ensures you're protected throughout your journey.
- Emergency Response: Keeping us informed allows us to provide assistance if any issues arise during your trip.

Important: Traveling out of your metro area or across state lines without prior approval is a policy violation. This includes notifying ZEVO after you have already departed. Unauthorized out-of-city travel may result in a $100 fee, vehicle deactivation, and account restrictions.

To request approval for out-of-city travel, please contact Contact ZEVO Support or the vehicle's host before your trip.
Out-of-State Travel SOP
Overview
Guests must obtain approval before crossing state lines. The host and guest are responsible for agreeing on the terms — ZEVO's role is to confirm that agreement and process the incidental.
Balance Requirement
Guests must have a zero outstanding balance before approval. CS must verify in ZOMP before proceeding. No exceptions.
Process
- Guest contacts ZEVO support with their destination, departure date, and return date before leaving.
- CS verifies zero outstanding balance in ZOMP. If any balance exists, deny the request until cleared.
- CS reaches out to the host via the applicable Slack channel. Host and guest must agree on approval and additional security deposit amount.
- Once both parties agree and balance is confirmed at zero, CS processes the security deposit as an incidental in ZOMP, noting it as an out-of-state travel deposit with the approved destination.
- CS confirms approval to the guest only after the incidental is processed. Include approved destination, dates, and a reminder that itinerary changes require a new request.
